A Wedding at The Moorten Botanical Garden
This popular historical garden showplace has been the setting for hundreds of romantic weddings.
The private family estate is the home of the Moorten family, who created this unique botanical garden to share with the world.
The botanical garden has been designed as a haven of tranquility, harmony and contentment with the concert of birds singing in the trees, accentuated by the trickle of a giant waterfall and murmur of a stream cascading to the little lake surrounding the central lawn area called "The Palm Grove Oasis".
The bride's dressing room is upstairs, or the "Tower Room" of the two story Spanish style hacienda called "The Cactus Castle".
Guests arrive at the main gate and stroll into the oasis area. They are seated facing the massive rock waterfall, which is located under a curved native fan palm. Soft background music permeates the festive atmosphere enhanced by floral bouquets and a floral arch. A canopy is available, upon request. A mission bell rings to start the ceremony.
The minister (or rabbi, judge, etc.) appears from behind the waterfall. Another chime of the bell calls the groom and groomsmen forth. The final bells chime to announce the appearance of the bride on the balcony above. The bride and her attendants slowly descend the staircase and begin their walk up the aisle accompanied by the wedding march, (or other personal choice of music). A pair of cooing white doves in a large cage greet the bridal party.
After the ceremony and introductions, the married couple returns back down the aisle together.
Accompanied by music, they follow the stepping stone pathway through the garden to an alcove in the rocks, greet family and friends in a receiving line and have photos taken. Receptions can also be held in this area.
